A Grade II Listed late Georgian villa occupying a commanding position affording spectacular views over Lyme Bay has been sensitively and imaginatively converted to provide residential apartments, combining authentic restoration with discreet and respectful, expressly contemporary interventions which complement and enhance appreciation of the original fabric and features.

In particular, a studio apartment has been created within the context of a principal reception room by the insertion of a precisely detailed mezzanine sleeping gallery accessed by an alternating tread stair, and clearly articulated from the original fabric so as to give the impression of a lightweight element apparently floating within the space. Having been designed to imply a large piece of free-standing furniture, a clear overall sense of the impressive original space is maintained and it is rather enjoyable to now be able to touch the elaborate original plaster cornice profile (formerly out of reach) as a result.
